Sounds

I’ve compiled a few demo recordings from my home studio showcasing my Clinesmith lap steel to give you an idea of the tones you can get from a Clinesmith. As you will hopefully surmise, it is a very versatile instrument and quite inspiring to play. For more on Todd Clinesmith’s creations, visit his web site and feel free to send him an email.

Most of these recordings also make use of one of the finest guitars I’ve ever played: a Michael Dunn Rhythm Futur. While the Rhythm Futur was a special small run creation, Michael builds some of the finest instruments in the world. Check out Michael’s web site for more information.

Pfff… Just heard your “yellow roses” version today.
Man, you’re a pretty nice singer too, a real one man band.
Great vocal! I do not even mention your steel playing… (Guess I am gonna stop with mine.)
    Its just beautiful Mike!

…And may be a good method too, for some of us.
Love your “coconut grove” version Mike.

I second that emotion. These are really nicely done. Thanks for sharing. Some day I may be able to do 10% of what you’ve accomplished.

  4. I love those demos! When are you going to make a solo record? When you do, you need to put these tunes on it. Beautiful! Of course the steel playing is incredible on all of them, but I really like your rhythm guitar playing (especially on “Afternoon of a Swan” and “Tenderly”). That’s how I hear and try to play rhythm guitar.
